Faithful to Provide?

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4.19

One of the greatest tragedies during this pandemic has been the loss of jobs, business closings, charities and ministries hurting, and greatly reduced income for many, many people – including the elderly and disadvantaged populations. It’s no wonder many staying at home are filled with concern instead of calm

Do you find yourself struggling financially and fearful of the future?

Our varied situations may be a source of frustration, embarrassment, or even the occasional envy as we witness others carrying on business-as-usual or escaping to a summer home. But one way to turn around such emotions is to choose gratitude over grumbling. We are blessed in more ways than can be imagined by most of the worlds’ peoples.

Some of us just want to be able to pay the bills, stay reasonably healthy, and wrangle precious time with family scattered far and wide. Learning to “live lean” can be our first act of obedience and adaptation.

One of the perks of this position is that it forces us to simplify — a positive choice anyway. Daily we remember what we can live without. And daily we recall God’s faithfulness in years past. Recently I opened a letter to find an out-of-the-blue love gift from friends who reached out in generosity and grace. I wept, realizing this was a tangible reminder of a God who sees, who knows, and who uses His people to spread kindness.

Paul’s words remind us that “my God will meet all your needs.” Not all our wants, but all that is truly needed. He has done it before and is not about to cease.

In response, I find myself singing: All I have needed, Thy hands hath provided. Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.”

under the mercy, Lucinda
